A certain type of competitor to your software projects will do more than try to match you feature-for-feature. If you are not careful, they will get inside your head. They put out new releases comparing their software to yours and how many more features they have. You may feel forced to respond in this scenario.

Stick to the plan. Avoid rushing to implement the shiny new thing. Stay the course and focus on your existing roadmap.

If you waste all of your time thinking about your competition, you may implement hacks or quick fixes. And eventually, as a result, you might even fall behind. And once you've fallen behind, it can be almost impossible to successfully differentiate yourself.
